Teacher of RESPECT (plus additional subject)
Permanent post required from September 2020

Wardle Academy is looking to appoint an outstanding Teacher of RESPECT, who is ready to make a significant impact in a successful department. As part of the RESPECT department the successful candidate will be joining a vibrant and successful team, committed to providing a quality experience for our students and ensuring that they achieve their full potential.

RESPECT is a combination of Religious Education, Social and Personal Education and Citizenship. The name reflects not only the content of the subject, but also the main aim – teaching respect for myself and other people

As well as teaching RESPECT, there is an expectation that the successful candidate will teach an additional National curriculum subject.
Although each of the curriculum areas within RESPECT has its own distinct aims, objectives and subject content, it is our belief that these areas can and do complement each other and provide a well-balanced education for all our students.

RESPECT is taught across all year groups. As part of the RESPECT curriculum all students in Year 9 start to complete an element of the GCSE in Citizenship Studies. Students also have the opportunity to study GCSE Religious Studies in Key Stage 4.

Wardle Academy was inspected by Ofsted in December 2017 and judged to be good in all aspects. We are determined to carry on improving until we are the very best we can be. An essential part of this is the training and development of staff; we encourage our teachers to seek courses and opportunities which will help them further their careers whilst also providing them with new skills or knowledge.

This role would suit an NQT or an experienced teacher.

We offer:
• The opportunity to work with highly committed and enthusiastic staff
• The chance to help our improving school go from good to outstanding
• Excellent CPD focused on outstanding teaching and learning and a commitment to allow staff to fully engage nationally recognised professional qualifications
• Excellent facilities
• Committed to staff welfare and wellbeing
• Free flu vaccinations
• Access to our newly refurbished swimming pool and fitness suite
• Cycle scheme

Wardle Academy is part of the Watergrove Trust and is located in a semi-rural setting serving many local communities. The school is easily accessible, within close proximity to the M62 motorway and Smithy Bridge train station.

We aim to provide an excellent all-round education within a safe environment of modern facilities and resources. Our dedicated team of high quality teaching and associate staff raise the attainment and aspirations of our young people above and beyond national attainment.

To apply for this post, please download the application form and supporting documentation and send completed applications to hr@watergrovetrust.co.uk . The closing date is 10 am on Monday 9 March 2020.

Interviews will take place shortly after the closing date.

The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Appointment to this post is therefore subject to pre-employment checks including enhanced Disclosure and Barring and background check.
